I started my skincare journey as a teenager when my childhood eczema decided it wanted to spread all over my face. I couldn’t cover it with makeup and it became easily infected. For the vast amount of skin specialists, you generally find they have had their own battles with their skin, hence the empathy and passion to help others!
I only became a skincare professional once I had hit 40, as despite doing basic skin training whilst on maternity leave in 2005, I never did anything with it and continued my job in marketing and licensing which I had done for nearly 20 years. However, for over the last 7 years, all I have done is lived and breathed skin. It’s a deep well!
As a skin specialist, I’m absolutely NOT a dermatologist (medical doctor of skin disease) nor am I a beautician as I wouldn’t know the first thing about waxing, massage, etc! My official title is a corneotherapist - meaning I’m focused on skin health and skin barrier function. Mostly limited to the face in my case. I’m a member of the International Institute of Corneotherapy.
